On April 11, 2009 the sport of horse racing lost a wonderful friend with the passing of Tom Connolly.

Tom was the longtime host of the beginners' seminars at Santa Anita and Del Mar and was a popular figure with the fans.  People would flock to hear Tom speak. 

Tom was dedicated to educating the newcomers and cared deeply for every horse racing fan - young and old.  Tom was also one of the most charming people you would ever have the pleasure of meeting.

Tom not only educated new fans, but he also taught them good habits that they could use in the future.  It was always Tom’s dream that one day there would be a book dedicated to the newcomers.

Well my good friend, here it is!
